Core-Vent Implants
Last Updated: Jan 07, 2007
Joan, a dental implant patient, from Pennsylvania asks:
I am a patient. Ten years ago I had three dental implants inserted into my lower jaw. Two on the left and one on the right. They were Core-Vent, screw type. The first pieces had inside threads and were put into the jawbone with a drill. Then covered over with gum tissue and let to heal for a few months, if I recall correctly.
In 2004, two years ago, I needed to have additional implants and the dentist put in another brand called Straumann. They went further below the gum line then the Core-Vent, I realized later. Now I’m having serious pain problems with my gums. The dental implants seem to be impinging on my gum tissue, or at least feel like that.
I cannot tolerate having the crowns on the dental implants. The dentist who put them in says this never happened to him before. He tells me I have a medical problem. I can’t get anyone to listen. I am told they don’t make those old Core-Vent implants anymore.
Can anyone provide any help or guidance?
