Locator Abutment compatibility with the Core-Vent implants?
I have a patient who has six Core-Vent implants and wants to convert his fixed prosthesis to a removable overdenture with Locator abutment-attachment system. Does anybody know if I can order Locator abutments to torque down into Core-Vent implant fixtures? Does anybody know of a an attachment system similar to Locators that is compatible with the old Core-Vent implants?

Call implant direct - Gerald is the guy who invented core-vent implants & makes very good componentry for the big 5 implant companies at over 1/2 price

Absolutely. Locator abutments are sold for most implant systems (zestanchors.com). You will have no problem obtaining the abutments you want ($115 each + male processing pack $35).
Previous posters mentioned Implant Direct. They sell a similar system called GPS. The abutment costs $100 and includes the male processing pack. The abutment has identical dimensions as the Locator. The GPS abutment is seated with a 1.25 mm hex rather than the proprietary tri-lobe Locator tool but is functionally identical.
Be aware that although the abutments are identical, the nylon male inserts of the two systems are not cross compatible with the other system's metal housings (I tried it). If you choose to use GPS housings in the prosthetic, you must use GPS males. You can use GPS abutments with the Locator metal housing and a Locator male.
Another thing to note is that Zimmer implants had a minor internal modification in the mid '90's. The Implant Direct clone of the Zimmer implant (Legacy 1, 2, 3 or 4) is compatible with the newer version. Legacy GPS abutments are not compatible with the older Zimmer implants (I tried it).
I primarily place Implant Direct Legacy implants. However, I have a personal preference for Locator housings over the GPS system. I have been unable to remove the GPS nylon males with the recommended system, and I had trouble with the original GPS males deforming when abutments diverge. Those issues may have been resolved with their new internal males, I have not used them.

Look at the implants carefully befor you start as some early core vent implants had a cemented post not a screw retention
