Is a block bone graft the only way to increase mandibular ridge height?
If there is a lot of bone loss from wearing a removable partial, can ridge height augmentation be achieved thru any other procedure other than a block bone graft? Is general anesthesia needed for this procedure? I am TOTALLY afraid of anesthesia to the point that I am considering going back to a removable partial.

If the bone loss is extreme then a block graft is the best way to achieve height. This is especially true on the lower jaw. General anesthesia is not needed for this procedure, but some type of sedation should be used to relax you. A CT scan is needed before any final determination is made of how much to graft.Dr. Michael Tischler
