Can my flipper be worn after abutments have been placed?

Front tooth knocked out. Implant was put in. Will my current flipper fit over the abutment while I am awaiting for my real tooth to be made?

Yes the current retainer – flipper partial can be adapted over the healing cap but not the abutment. The healing cap will help shape and prepare the tissue for the abutment. Usually the abutment and crown are made in the laboratory to be inserted togeather. In special cases temporary abutments and temporary crowns called provisionals can be made to prepare the tissue for the final abutments and crowns. Once you are using the abutments and provisionals than you no longer have need for the flipperDavid C. Furnari DDS
