I have gum disease: Can I get implants?
My teeth are receding, and I have have gum disease (gingivitis). Can you get dental implants if you have gum disease or gingivitis? If I can, how long can I expect that the implants will last for?

You can get implants after you have treated your gum disease. Your implant can surrive more than 10 years if your mouth health is fine

Gum disease can cause your successful implants to fail, so if you have gum disease it needs to be treated, and after it is eliminated, you can place implants.
Gingivitis is the earliest stage of gum disease, but it can easily be eliminated with good plaque control and oral hygiene in about one week.
Periodontitis (gum disease) takes more aggressive treatment and longer time to treat, but once under control, you should be fine as long as you keep it under control, and that requires excellent daily home oral hygiene and regular maintenance at your dentist's office.
Good luck!

You can definitely get implants. If possible, treat the gum disease first. Placement of the implants in the presence of any infection (gum disease is a chronic infection) has more risk than in a completely healthy environment, but the prognosis is still extremely favorable. Often, if a patient requires an extraction and an implant, we have no choice but to place the implant even if there is gum disease or periodontal disease. If you have the chance to treat the gingivitis or periodontitis first, then you should, but the results will be routinely excellent either way.
