Implants for Lower Denture: When Can I Expect Some Benefits?
I have a upper denture, and a lower denture, but the lower is not stable. I am planning on having 2 implants done for the lower denture. When I have the implants done, can I expect some benefit soon after? I know I have to wait 5-6 months before the implants become integrated before they be attached into denture. Will I have any benefit right away so the lower denture will be more stable?

Two implants in the lower jaw will basically help to hold the denture in place. However, you would not be able to experience the benefit until the implants are functional, which would be in a few months.Another option that you have if you want immediate results is to place a minimum of four mini dental implants and retrofit your existing denture with attachments that will hold the denture in place. This technique has become more popular in recent years and gives you the advantage of reaping the benefits immediately. The procedure requires no surgery, as the implants are placed through the gum tissue. If your dentures are not adequate, it may require that you get a new set of dentures, or a reline of your old ones. The procedure can be done in about one hour. I hope this information helps, and good luck!Carlos Boudet,DDS, DICOI
