Time Between Abutment and Final Crown?
Now that my dental implants have integrated I am ready to have the abutments put on…so says the Doc. How does it take between abutment placement and putting the permanent crown on top? With the usual back and forth to the Lab to get it all “straight” what is a ballpark in days if the patient is available 24/7 to be fitted properly?

The final abutment and crown can be placed at the same time. I recommend a custom abutment. Your dentist will take the impression and send to lab for fabricating a custom abutment and crown. If your implant needs exposure and placement of a temporary abutment, then it should be allowed to heal for 6 weeks for full maturation before taking the final impression.Dr. kazemi

After the implant integrates, comes the abutment.
You can have a healing abutment placed, or you can have a temporary crown placed.
The advantage of the temporary crown instead of the healing abutment comes from the ability to start shaping the gums around the tooth and to try to save the papilla or soft tissue that fills the space between the teeth at the gumline.
If the implant is in the smile zone, this is really a good idea.
The gums take about one month to heal, and you can get a crown done in a couple of days with cad/cam technology in our office, but most dentists take about two weeks to deliver a crown after the final impressions are taken.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

My dentist who is to do the extraction and implant said to put a "flipper" in the site of the implant during the healing phase. Is this the normal procedure?

Hello,
I am going to do the abutment in 4/2/2019 but I want another dentist to do the crowns and impression. Is this possible? I am also wearing a retainer as well.
