Tissue Punch for Implants: What Exactly is this?

My dentist has told me that they are going to do a tissue punch on me. What exactly is a tissue punch? how is it done and how does it help with placing dental implants? Thanks.

A tissue punch is a very simple item that is basically a round scalpel that dermatologists use a lot to remove small lesions from the skin. Dentists use them to create a small opening in the gum for preparation of an implant site. Regards, Dr Azar
