Pick Locator housing up in an impression in the overdenture?
I know Locators can be picked up either chairside or in the lab. I would prefer to pick the Locator housing up in an impression in the overdenture and send it to the lab where they can process it. I think the acrylic around the housing will be stronger and I will not have to worry about locking the overdenture on to the abutments. How do I make an impression with the Locators to accomplish this?

Using a heavy consistency silicon impression material will be good even when the locater not picked up with the removal you can remove it by hand and insert it inside the impression
If you need to registrat the residual ridge with another impression material which is better than silicon in the registration of tissues for overdenture you can use sectional impression technique by construction of specisl tray with holes in the area of locaters and using zincoxideugenol for residual ridge and heavy body with wash of light body impression material for the locater area
At the end I may prefer the clinical method of attaching the locater to the denture to avoid the dimensional change of the acrylic denture base which will occur during processing, you can cover the abutment with piece of nylon to avoid locking
